Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under GDPR Article 6, our legal basis for processing anonymous analytics data is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — we use analytics to improve our service. We do not process special categories of personal data (Article 9) and do not rely on consent as a legal basis for analytics. Users may opt out of analytics cookies at any time through our cookie consent banner.

CCPA — California Consumer Privacy Act

We do not sell personal information. SampleFiles does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

For residents of California, the CCPA grants the following rights:

  • Right to Know: You have the right to request information about the categories of personal information we collect, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. Submit a verifiable consumer request via legal@yam4.dev.
  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions under Cal. Civ. Code §1798.105. To exercise this right, email legal@yam4.dev with the subject line "CCPA Deletion Request."
  • Right to Opt-Out: You have the right to opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.135), so no opt-out action is necessary. If we ever change this practice, we will provide a clear "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link on our homepage.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. You will receive equal service and pricing regardless of whether you exercise your privacy rights.

How to Exercise Your Rights: To submit a request, email legal@yam4.dev with (1) a description of the right you wish to exercise and (2) enough information to verify your identity. We will respond within 45 days, as required by Cal. Civ. Code §1798.130. If you are an authorized agent, please provide written permission signed by the consumer.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information — We do not sell your personal information. This link is provided for transparency; no action is needed.

UK GDPR

For users in the United Kingdom, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. The rights granted under UK GDPR are substantially the same as those under EU GDPR, listed above. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority in the UK.

Data Retention

We and our third-party processors retain data for the following periods:

  • Google Analytics retains data for 14 months.
  • Microsoft Clarity retains data for up to 18 months.

International Data Transfers

Third-party processors (Google, Microsoft) may transfer data outside the EEA/UK under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. These clauses ensure appropriate safeguards for the protection of personal data transferred to third countries.
